- Kelip – Kelip (Fireflies Park) Kampung Kuantan, Kuala Selangor
Thousands of fireflies gather around the berembang trees along the Selangor River at night to perform their mating dance, creating a bioluminescent glow that can be seen from miles away. Enjoy the tranquilly of a boat trip along the river and the enchanted surroundings with your loved ones. It is believed that many of the nests of the most frequent firefly species in the area, Pteroptyx tener, can only be found in this location, thanks to the continuous and devoted local conservation efforts.
Kampung Kuantan is roughly 9 kilometres from the nearest town of Kuala Selangor, and it has all the endearing traits of a little village far from the hubbub of the city.

Waterfalls & River Activities in Selangor
- Waterfalls @ Kanching Eco Forest Park
Kanching Eco Forest Park is known for its magnificent seven-tier waterfalls, making it a a major draw for visitors especially among the nature lovers. Visitors can bask in the in the beautiful grassy meadows and lush forests, or take a dip in the peaceful, stone-covered stream that is safe for kids of all ages. There are many gazebos, stone benches, and even a bridge over the creek, making this location perfect for picnics.
- Sungai Chiling, Kuala Kubu Bharu
Located about 3 kilometres away from Kuala Kubu Bharu, this river homes the famous 80-meter Chiling Waterfalls, which cascade into a tranquil lagoon. Just like the Gabai Waterfalls, Chiling Waterfalls are located within Taman Warisan Negeri Selangor (Selangor State Park).
Explore exotic flora, such as wild orchids and bamboos as you hike through streams and rivers to get to the waterfalls. This site also homes the Mahseer Fish Sanctuary, governed by the Selangor Fisheries and Selangor Forestry Departments. This sanctuary plays a vital role in providing the essential habitat and natural breeding ground for fishes that migrate from the river’s headwaters to the main waterfall area.
- Sungai Pertak
The Sungai Pertak River flows through an Orang Asli community area and into the Sungai Selangor Dam. A favourite weekend spot for those who enjoy fishing and camping, this destination also attracts 4WD enthusiasts and dirt bikers who love to blaze down the various trails that run along and across this river.
Enjoy the river’s multiple deep pool and mini waterfall segments, as well as the largest segment nearest to the village. The river also serves as a starting point for climbers going up Bukit Kutu, an abandoned colonial hill station perched atop a 1000-meter-high mountain summit. You may get to the riverfront attraction by taking the main road to Kampung Pertak and continuing on a dirt road until you reach the end.
Zoos, Mini Zoos & Petting Zoos in Selangor
- Zoo Negara
Located in Ulu Klang, Gombak District, Selangor, Zoo Negara (National Zoo) covers 110 acres (44 ha) and is the largest zoo in Malaysia and houses over 5,137 animals, representing 476 species of mammals, birds, amphibians, reptiles, and fish. All of the exhibits are spread out nicely around a large lake where storks, pelicans, egrets, ibises, and swans are free to roam. Be sure to take a second and also enjoy the wonderful landscapes abundantly populated by mature trees. Don’t forget to catch the animal feeding sessions and trained animal shows too – definite crowd favourites!

G2G Animal Garden is located in Malaysia Agro Expo Park in Serdang (MAEPS).
